Clinical Professor
Dr. Werb is an active clinical nephrologist, former Director of the Hemodialysis Unit and the PHC Renal Program. He coordinates the care of community hemodialysis patients with outreach programs in Sechelt, Powell River, Squamish and Fraser Valley. His other area of interest is the plasmapheresis unit (co-managed with Hematology).
Dr. Werb received his medical training in South Africa, and worked in Canada in both Newfoundland and London Ontario before coming to UBC. He has been on staff at UBC since 1979.
Dr. Werb is a longstanding member of O2P, the dragon boat team comprised of dialysis and transplant patients, and he trains with the team at least weekly, in rain or shine.
