Dr. Olwyn Johnston

Clinical Associate Professor

Dr. Johnston is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology, University of British Columbia and a Transplant Nephrologist at the Vancouver General Hospital site of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Kidney Transplant Program since 2008. She is the Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation at Vancouver General Hospital and Program Director of UBC Transplant Nephrology Clinical Fellowship Program.

She obtained her medical degree at University College Dublin, Ireland. She was a graduate of internal medicine, nephrology and transplantation fellowship programs at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She subsequently completed a Master of Medicine Degree in transplant proteomics at University College Dublin, Ireland and a Master of Health Science Degree from the University of British Columbia in conjunction with a transplant research fellowship at the Division of Nephrology, University of British Columbia.

Dr. Johnston currently serves as a board member of the Canadian Society of Transplantation, and a committee member of the national Kidney Transplant Advisory Committee and Living Donor Advisory Committee.

Her main research interests include metabolic changes after kidney transplantation, kidney transplant failure, kidney re-transplantation and living kidney donation.
