Dr. Hargrove obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular and Microbiology from the University of Calgary in 1990. She attended medical school at U of C, completing her M.D. in 1993. She completed her resident training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology fellowship in 1998 (U of C). She extended her fellowship, undertaking further training in molecular biology to investigate molecular mechanisms of glomerular injury in experimental models of diabetes mellitus.
Dr. Hargrove moved to Victoria in 1999, where she began her practice in clinical nephrology. She has pursued additional training in end of life care for renal patients, as well as peritoneal dialysis. She is the medical director of the peritoneal dialysis clinic for the Vancouver Island Health Authority. She is a member of the Provincial Renal Agency End of Life Steering Committee and she also provides clinical teaching for the Island Medical Program.
