I was born and raised in a small town on Lake Michigan and moved to Vancouver in 2015 to join the provincial renal pathology program and the pathology department at St. Paul’s Hospital. I completed my undergraduate studies in Biophysics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.  I then moved to Chicago, Illinois and received my MD and PhD at Northwestern University through the National Institutes of Health-funded Medical Scientist Training Program. My PhD work focused on the molecular and structural functions of viral proteins.  I continued my medical training in Chicago and did my anatomic pathology residency and renal pathology fellowship at the University of Chicago.  I am currently the Director of the BC Provincial Renal Pathology Laboratory.
